CASE FILE — FILE NOTE
About
What this file is, its scope, and what it is not.
THE CLAIM FILE is a set of case records documenting the small claims process. It is maintained as a procedural reference: what a stage requires, what it costs, what deadline applies, and what a claim of a given type typically involves. It is not written to persuade or reassure — it records the process as it stands.
This file covers the small claims track in England and Wales only. Scotland runs its own Simple Procedure through the Sheriff Court, and Northern Ireland operates a separate small claims process through its own county courts. Neither is within the scope of this file, and nothing here should be applied to a claim proceeding in either jurisdiction.
This file is not legal advice. It documents general procedure and publicly available legal and procedural information current as of the date recorded on each page. It does not assess the merits of any individual case, and it is not a substitute for advice from a solicitor or a qualified adviser on a specific dispute.
